Why can't I just verify each proof individually on Ethereum?+

You can — but it's expensive. Each on-chain verification costs gas, and as your rollup scales, those costs add up fast. Proof aggregation batches multiple proofs into a single verification, so the cost is shared across the entire batch. For production workloads like Sovra's 8M+ users, this is the difference between sustainable economics and unsustainable gas bills.

Does proof aggregation add any trust assumptions beyond Ethereum?+

No. The aggregated proof is verified directly on Ethereum L1 using pure cryptographic verification — no restaking, no trusted intermediaries, no committees. The security guarantee is identical to verifying each proof individually on Ethereum, just at a fraction of the cost.

Is this compatible with my existing proving system?+

SP1 is supported on mainnet today, with Zisk integration underway. If your application uses a different proving system, talk to us — we're actively expanding prover support. The aggregation layer is designed to be prover-agnostic, so adding new systems is part of the roadmap.
